I have a GPSmap 1222 and Garmin Express on my Mac. Downloaded the europe file, about 14gb I think, and it sits on 100% downloaded but says "copying files...", it seems forever. I don't get what is taking so long, and when I went off the boat leaving it to work, which included taking my iPhone which my mac was hot spotted to, it failed. It seems to fail a lot and then I start again. Jeeze... this is painful! Is it just the way it is? Yikes!

I just want to head out of the harbour for a bit this weekend! sigh

Geez, Randy, even 13.27 GB -- Garmin's number, I think -- is a BIG download. If I did that using my "unlimited" Verizon plan, it would use almost all of its high-speed hotspot ability for a month, and Verizon might well throttle down further service. If your mac is portable I'd take it somewhere with a fast WiFi connection. Note too that it will also take a while to write the file to a blank SD card. Looks like you'll have a whole lot of European cartography, satellite maps included, but I think I would have gotten Garmin's SD card if possible:

Hi Ben, well-I managed to download the file, but it was the conversion that surprised me in the time it took after the download to complete the map for the chart plotter. Being my first time, I didn’t expect that.

But alas, I got busy fitting out my fuel lines and voila, the maps were ready by mid afternoon! I FINALLY have the charts up on my plotter.

Yes, Ben, I agree about downloading at a cafe or the like. I in fact did use my monthly allowance!

Cheers
