I’m really glad to see this new gateway/extender as it seems to add a whole of utility to what was already a very interesting wind sensor in my experience:

In fact, I hope to test the NCP with the Calypso Portable on Gizmo soon. Note that all four models are available now, except that the WiFi extension feature will be added with a firmware update (that will also allow any model to be upgraded to the High End). Also note that cables are extra but if you look it the manual it seems fairly easy to use ones you may already have.

Do you have a good contact for Calypso? I’ve just bought a complete calypso wind system and my NCP plus was dead out of the box. I can’t get a response from the US distributor nor can I get a response from Calypso (been trying for over a week).

Hi Matt, A lot of my contact has been with marketing manager Claudia Esteban, email here:

Incidentally, I do have an NCP and have found that with latest firmware 1.11 it does reliably connect with the test Calypso Ultra and then outputs apparent wind speed and direction over NMEA 2000.

Thanks for that, unfortunately that’s one of the emails I’ve been trying with no success.

As excited as I am to have this setup working on my boat, I cannot currently say anything good about customer support from Calypso or Windmeter systems.
