Ben E. and I saw this clever bit at Actisense’s booth at METSTRADE. It’s a simple, relatively inexpensive device that solves a problem and makes so much sense it seems obvious once you see it. I’m excited to be able to get my hands on a few and get them installed on Have Another Day.

I found out that the anticipated shipping date is early Q2 2020 and the retail price will be $34.10.

It will be nice to have constant voltage checking at or near the ends of an N2K backbone where the accumulated voltage drops are apt to be maximum, and the TER-U will also be a great troubleshooting tool. With just one you can temporarily terminate a network anywhere while trying to isolate a trouble maker and simultaneously get a power check.

Great that Steve Mitchell at SeaBits has reviewed the A2K-TER-U:

I too have found it useful for troubleshooting and, as usual for the A2K line, beautifully made. Also worth noting that it can serve as an inline terminator, which means a TER-U can end a network’s backbone but you can connect a drop cable (maximum 6m/19.6ft) and device to the other end.
