Defender/Garmin split

I am wondering if any one on this forum is able to shed more light on the apparent parting of ways of Garmin and Defender. Two of my favorites. Hope if does not last.

Chart Program

Folks,
Need a lead on the best chart program that comes closest to the look and operation of Nobeltec for use on the Furuno NavNet 3D system. The present vector charts as provided by Furuno are no where near the ease of use and detail as the Nobeltec - same for the raster charter.

Did I miss the news, or are we all still waiting for the second shoe to drop from Raymarine? Did the banks decide to overlook their failure to comply with loan covenants and renegotiate the loans? Or are the banks pushing them to bankruptcy or a an asset sale?

Your thoughts about what the US should do?

I am a big fan of Bill O'Reilly, but I am nervous that the expectation he and others (e.g. many commentators on all the news channels) seem to have, that the crews of these ships the pirates are after, should be armed.

I think the reasoning is sound, not to arm these crews.

To allow these ransoms to go on isn't a solution either.

What do the people in the know, think the solution on the seas is, until a solution to get a functioning government on the ground can take hold ?
