I did a quick search and failed to come up with anything on this subject. I have Mercury Smartcraft gauges (2 tachs and a speedo) and one of the tachs had a bad LCD. I sourced a tach that had a good LCD and swapped it into my gauge. New gauges are ~$300, but this was just an exercise to see if it could be done.
Anyhow, I removed the old LCD and tracked down the manufacturer. Hosiden made these for Siemens/VDO, who sold them to Mercury (Part Number HLM7447). I called but had no luck in getting more of these LCD's.
So my question is: Are there any hardware experts here who would know how to get these LCDs? Maybe even how to spec them to order more?
