NMEA 2000 Backbone SeatalkNG and other cabling

Vote 0 Votes

If you want to use Ramarine SeatalkNG in combination with equipment from other manufacturers using what Raymarine call Devicenet.

Is i possible to build a backbone where one end is SeatalkNG
(5 Way Connector, Backbone Terminator) the other end is connected to a devicenet backbone?

Are there any ready made cables for this or would this cable be need to be built by using a SeatalkNG backbone with a field installable plug in the other end?

  • Maretron and Raymarine each have a variety of such cables.

  • If you choose the Maretron cabling products as your boat backbone, Maretron provides all the conversion cables to all the other manufacturers so that you never have to make a cable. When the cable end can't fit through a tight space, they also have a very workable field install-able connector.

They also have different backbone cable sizes, depending on how many devices / how much current your network will draw.
