I am purchasing the new e125 Raymarine MFD, and have feature envy for the B&G sailing features, and sailing race start feature Ben wrote about on Garmin.
I am wondering what might be out their on a tablet or smartphone that can take the instrument information from my e125, or some other transmitter, and do something similar to B&G in predicting where the laylines are from a waypoint based on wind, set & drift (set & drift measured, predicted, or selected by user). It would also be good, just to predict what my heading would be close hauled on the opposite tack (again figuring in set & drift).
Have a look at the iRegatta iPhone/ipad app - it works with your instrument system for start lines and wind etc via wifi, if you've got an NMEA network datasource. I use UDP and it works well, with multiple connected devices.
